The Norwegian Knowledge Centre for Education was established on 1 January 2011 on commission from the Ministry of Education and Research. The centre has been charged with presenting and summarising the results of Norwegian and international educational research and disseminating these overviews by means of an easily accessible knowledge database.
The centre works to identify gaps in knowledge and provides input to the authorities and research community, as well as to the Research Council itself. A user council with representatives of key agencies in the field will be established.
The Knowledge Centre will collaborate with existing actors such as the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training, The Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT), universities and university colleges, independent research institutes, national centres for primary and lower secondary education and science centres.
