Impact of Social Sciences handbook shows that the biggest group came from the ministries covering crime and law and order, social security and welfare state systems, overseas aid, health and the environment, and finally transport and education. By contrast, the departments handling local government, taxation and innovations and universities, had the lowest rates of citing academic papers and university research findings in website documents. The centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) looks at the impact of institutions and how research can inform decision making.
